Important information:
In Ontario, all accidents with damage exceeding $700.00 must be reported. If there are no injuries, disputes or criminal activities, the police will ask the driver to remove the vehicle from the roadway, exchange information and report within 24 hours to a reporting centre. If a tow truck is necessary, your car will be towed to the nearest centre. At the centre, advice will be given to the motorist on filling a report form. An inspection of the vehicle is done and stickers are attached to the damaged areas. The motorist is then free to drive away (or towed) to the collision shop he/she chooses. (in some instances, you may be referred to an insurance company or adjuster recommended shop. Insist on your rights to have your car repaired where you choose!)
